Foxglove_ spotted on a beautiful walk out from Rhiwlas_around Moelyci.._

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the WELSH FRUIT FESTIVAL 2026!! I took this picture of a foxglove on a beautiful walk out from Rhiwlas and around Moelyci, and it was on this walk that I first made the decision to host a residential event at the Trigonos retreat centre in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park in North Wales. I have been on a fruit-based raw vegan journey for just over 11 years now, and living and working in North Wales for just over four. Both of these have been unexpected, fascinating and joyful journeys of discovery, and it will be my privilege and pleasure to bring these two passions together and to be able to share all I have learnt with you. Whether you have a specific health problem you wish to address, you want to plan some time out for rest and relaxation, or you simply want to learn (or learn more) about this way of living and eating while enjoying a fun holiday in the Welsh sunshine (?!?!?), there will be something here for you. I very much look forward to meeting you!!

Venue?

The WELSH FRUIT FESTIVAL 2026 will be held at the beautiful TRIGONOS retreat centre, which is located next to the lake 'Llyn Nantlle Uchaf' in the Nantlle valley in the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park in North Wales. The Nantlle valley looks up towards Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), which is the highest mountain in the UK outside of Scotland. The local area is very popular with holidaymakers and outdoor enthusiasts alike, who come for the fresh air, the stunning scenery and the physical challenges of the mountains.

The centre is well equipped, with a dining room, library and lounge, four function rooms (including a hall and one room with underfloor heating - great for yoga!), a variety of different bedroom types, and a field for camping.  All ages, genders, ethnicities, sexualities and abilities are welcome, and there is one room with a wheelchair accessible bathroom.

Trigonos is a not-for-profit organisation looked after by the Ruskin Mill Trust. The land is managed according to organic and biodynamic principles, and is Demeter certified. Trigonos has a kitchen garden, an orchard and a large polytunnel for growing food, and they have specific areas set aside as wildflower meadows.

Here are two sheep-friends I made on my walk. Yes, there are a lot of sheep in Wales, but we will be loving them not eating them :-)

Activities?

What will we be doing all day at the WELSH FRUIT FESTIVAL 2026?!? Although the schedule hasn't been finalised yet, there will be a relaxed programme of pre-arranged learning, physical, children's and evening activities, as well as plenty of space for free time and co-creation. If you would like to bring your hula hoop, your badminton set or your slackline, please do that!

The main purpose of the event (in my mind anyway!), is for everyone (you!) who attends to have better health at the end of the event than they did at the beginning. I hope you will have engaged in some experiential learning in relation to what that means that you can take home with you and put into practice in your daily life. So what does that mean?!?

It means that although there will be plenty of things to do, overall the focus will be on actually living health, rather than learning about how to live health. We will experience with our bodies what true health looks and feels like. We will learn how to prepare and eat truly healthful food, how to move in ways that work for our bodies, and how to allow ourselves to rest.

We might go on one or two outings (come on... Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon might have to be done, or maybe Caernarfon Castle or Dinas Dinlle beach??), but for the most part I hope for a week of listening to our own rhythms and the rhythms of nature, and of meeting our physical, mental and spiritual needs together in the spirit of community...

Finally, the food...??

Okay, last-but-not-least, I'd better say something about the food! The food will be low fat but not no fat: there will be raw plant fats like avocados, durian, raw tahini, and soaked or sprouted nuts and seeds. Everything will be SOS-free (no salt, oil or refined sugar) and free from wheat/gluten and soya. There will be a mixture of locally sourced and organic produce, as well as some imported/tropical fruit as well.  Food will be predominantly fruit and salad. Smoothies, smoothie-bowls, fresh juices and nice-cream will be available sometimes. Sprouted seeds and legumes and a range of caffeine-free herbal teas will be available. Because the Welsh Fruit Festival is a fully conscious event, there will be no cacao or any other stimulants, food-drugs, drink-drugs or drugs of any kind (sorry, along with no animal products, this bit is non-negotiable). There will be no alcohol and smokers will be asked to smoke off-site (alternatively, now might be a great time to consider quitting?!?). Fruit snacks and monomeal options will be available at all times, and some higher fat and/or dehydrated ('gourmet raw') options will be available in the evenings.

This picture is of a banana-apple-tahini (BAT) 'cereal' bowl with dried mulberries and cinnamon. Seriously good! Thanks to Karen Ranzi from 'Feel Fabulous with Food' for this recipe...
